Save your spot, show up as you are, and leave knowing what rest actually is and how to get there

Come with your camera on or off, your dinner, your sweatpants. You'll leave with a clearer sense of why rest has felt so hard and a sense of where to go from here. I’ll also leave some time at the end for Q&A.

You're exhausted, and resting still makes you feel guilty

You finally get a quiet evening, and you spend it checking Slack and thinking about that work project. You try watching a show, because you don’t know what else to do, and feel so antsy you end up scrolling content you don’t even care about. The idea of sitting still feels physically painful to you.

Nothing is wrong with you. Most of us were just never taught how to rest. And with the clocks changing on November 1 and the days getting darker, your body is about to ask for more rest right when the end of the year asks you to push harder.

One hour to understand your burn out and try something different

You've downloaded the meditation apps. You've tried the yoga class, bricking your phone, promising yourself you’ll go to bed earlier tonight. Maybe some of it helped for a day or two. Or maybe it made you feel even more anxious and guilty than you did before.

We'll look at why rest feels so uncomfortable for people who are used to doing everything well, the difference between actually resting and just numbing out, and a few small, doable ways to rest that fit your real life.

Hi, I'm Elizabeth

I'm a therapist, and for a long time I thought rest meant just doing nothing and I was terrible at it. Six years ago, I was working 55+ hours a week for someone I was desperately trying to please who didn't care about me at all. When I finally realized the cycle I was caught in, I was shocked by how hard it was to stop. I realized then that I had no idea how to allow myself to actually rest. So I went on a mission to learn everything I could about it and begin to actually implement it into my life. Learning how to actually rest changed more for me than any productivity system ever did, and now it's the thing I most want to share.

Be the first to see what I've been building

I'm also sharing something I've been working on behind the scenes this fall, shaped by what so many of you told me in the survey. There's a special bonus just for people who join live.

Become someone who actually feels rested

Most of us will keep running on empty for years, telling ourselves we'll rest once things calm down. Then the calendar fills back up, the holidays arrive, and slowing down gets pushed to next month again. Or, maybe even more maddeningly, you do have some down time but you have no idea what to do with it and the idea of sitting still makes you physically uncomfortable.

You deserve more than that. You take care of so much, for so many people, and you should get to feel restored too. Not on vacation, not someday, but as a regular part of your life. There’s no reward at the end of this for

The reason rest feels so hard has nothing to do with how disciplined you are and everything to do with the fact that no one ever taught you how. That part can be learned, and you can do it.

We're getting together on Tuesday, October 20 at 7pm Central. I'll share what I’ve learned, some small practices, and a lot of compassion for how hard this is. You just need to bring yourself, exactly as tired as you are. There will be a special bonus for anyone who joins live.
